Toilet Repair, Replacement and Installation Services
WaterWork Plumbing handles toilet repair in Livonia, plus replacement and new toilet installation, for homes and businesses. A toilet problem is rarely an emergency until it is, so most people call us for one of three reasons: it won’t stop running, it leaks, or it clogs too often.
Common Toilet Repairs
- Running toilets. A worn flapper or fill valve can waste hundreds of gallons of water a day, and you pay for every one of them.
- Leaks at the base. Usually a failed wax ring, and in older Livonia homes, sometimes a corroded cast-iron flange under it. Left alone, it can rot the subfloor.
- Weak or double flushes. Often a chain, flapper or fill-level problem that takes minutes to fix.
- Frequent clogs. If plunging has become routine, the cause may be the toilet itself or a problem farther down the drain.
When Replacement Makes More Sense
Many Livonia houses from the 1950s and 1960s still have toilets that use 3.5 gallons or more per flush. Federal rules have capped new toilets at 1.6 gallons since 1994, and today’s models flush better at that volume than the early low-flow toilets did. Models with the EPA’s WaterSense label use 1.28 gallons or less. If yours is cracked, constantly needs parts, or simply uses too much water, a new one usually pays for itself.
Toilet Installation
We remove the old toilet, check the flange and the floor under it, set the new toilet on a fresh seal, connect the supply line and test it for leaks. If the flange is damaged, we repair it before the new toilet goes in, so the job lasts.
